Burning frankincense

My lovely colleague B, took me to work today, as she did yesterday. I didn’t want to travel with the guy at the apartment for he’d visited the owner whose daughter had just flown from the US. Plus, B is local. She could deal with the police better. As of tomorrow we’ll need letters to go to work to say we’re essential. They’re also stopping people from going to the harbour area where the old souk is. Too many cases. We were standing outside the office, just about to walk in when the police went past and told us to go to home (Arabic English). I was upset and told the CEO. I also said I was changing offices and didn’t want people to come in and I’d meet them in the cafe area (no customers). The CEO is local, and is doing her best to be a buffer between the Chair and us. She came to check on me later and I explained why I was worried - new in the country, don’t know anyone and have blood pressure issues (increases risk). She understood, and said it’s not her that’s the problem. I hope she can convince our Chair. He thinks people don’t work when they’re at home. Trust me, I have plenty to do.
The letter tells the police my name, passport number and where I work. I’m waiting for my work permit still. It omits my job title - teacher - which would guarantee I’d be sent home and not allowed to work. I’m essential for the business, just not essential for me to be in the office.
I was dropped home by B. I said I’d walk in tomorrow and maybe I’ll be stopped by the police if I do..
