Surfing

Another Saturday has come and gone, at home (mostly) and safe.

The "mostly" was my weekly visit to the farms shop. 5 or 6 other customers came and went while I was there. None of them was wearing a face covering. What is the problem, folks?

Apart from that the day was the usual mix of gardening and laundry.

I got a new book during the week. While bookshops and libraries are closed I have been buying from the publisher, or from Hive.co.uk. They give me the option of making a donation with each purchase to a local bookshop. Mine have gone to the Scottish Poetry Library in Edinburgh.

This latest buy was recommended by @TripFiction on Twitter. It is excellent.

The author is a German journalist who leaves his job to travel across Russia, couch surfing. He wanted to meet typical Russians (and Chechens, Kalmyks and Dagestanis, as it turns out) and get behind the image of Russia which is presented to us by our media.

The Autonomous Republic of Kalmykia is predominantly Buddhist. Yes, quite. Google it.
