The Generation Game

My brother came over to help me remove as much as possible of the junk from the loft this morning.  We started early, loft spaces get unbearably hot in this weather and we maintained social distancing quite easily as for the majority of the time I was up above and he was down below.  It was a job I could not have done on my own.  We shifted more than half the stuff and the resulting assortment of prizes had me thinking of Brucie.   A Sewing Machine, some Cushions, a Television, a tape recorder, a Set of Golf Clubs, a Dolls House, another Television .....  and of course .... a Cuddly Toy (lots of them actually!)

I filled the relevant bin with the most offensive smaller items and have enough piled up outside to fill it twice more ..... and there's more to shift yet :-(    Some things will have to go to the tip while just a few things may be salvageable for reuse by us or others.  The sewing machine, an electric Singer, still works having been stored in it's case.

Social highlight of the day - spending time in a friend's garden nearby, a nice change after months of chatting over the garden wall.   Due to the layout of the garden we still ended up chatting over a wall, just a different wall and we got to sit down :-)

Edrianthus dalmaticus in another trough outside the front door in the morning sunshine meant I had that 'Blip in the can' feeling early today.   Edrianthus are closely related to Campanula, this species having attractive clusters of upward facing bellflowers on nearly prostrate stems.
