Marsh Orchid

Yesterday a friend sent a photo of a marsh orchid growing on the roadside on one of my walks. This morning I was awake before 06:00, it was sunny and I knew I wouldn't go back to sleep. So I got up, leaving Cameraman slumbering, woke Flora and off we set to see them. I know they're common but it's nice to record one on blip. This isn't a wonderful photograph but it was the best of my attempts. They're quite low growing and with the dog it's hard to get down to their level. It was sunny and bright but that pesky north wind was keeping it cool. On our return it was warmer. I was home for shower and breakfast by 07:30.

Then I took it into my head to do the weekly shop. Gloves and mask at the ready I set off. First time I've driven for months. I don't enjoy driving and much prefer to walk or take public transport but needs must. It was quiet in the supermarket and I'd say over 1/3 of people were wearing a mask. It felt OK but I was glad to get out with the shopping.

It's all wiped and put away now and we're going to have physically distanced coffee in the garden with a friend who has a guide dog. It's nice for him to have a rumble out of his harness and not be a working dog for a while. Then I'll be having my Sunday catch up with my sister before we see what the rest of the day brings.

There is a #BlackLivesMatter protest in Edinburgh today. I wish I could go but it's out of the question. Isn't it awful that this even needs to be said. I feel the same about the lives of people who have a learning disability and whose Covid19-related deaths weren't even being counted in England until some weighty activists started making it known.
