Day 178/20. Emily is laid up

The famous little pink ferry that plies between Hamble-le-Rice and Warsash across the river Hamble is laid up due to Covid.
Hopefully very soon she will back in action. As you can see, social distancing will not be feasable until there is more relaxing of the guidelines. The ferry carries an absolute maximum of 12 passengers.
The current service is the latest incarnation of a service that has operated for several centuries; there are records of a ferry across the Hamble in the year 1493. It was an important link on the route between the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton.
