Afternoon walk

After lunch headed to Hengistbury Head. Parked and the took the lower path to Mudeford Spit. Mistake - too many cyclists and family groups spread out and chatting animatedly. We spent the entire walk out stressing and zig-zagging to avoid them.

Once we got to the Spit (about 45 mn. walk) there were fewer people. Just beach hut owners. These huts can sleep up to 6. Some have a tiny sleeping area in the roof area.

On the rare occasion they come on the market, they get snapped up for ca. £250,000*.

For that you can only sleep there March to October, but visit any time. There are communal showers for the use of owners. The huts are spaced inches away from each other. Many are passed down through the family.

We returned to the car via the higher path. By then it was 4:30 and many had left. We enjoyed the spectacular views of the coast and over to the Isle of Wight. Also woodland, heathland, salt marshes, water meadows. We really should visit more often, especially as it’s only a 15 mn drive away.
