Ten Years

It's been a long road but along the way it's been the supportive spirit of other Blip members which has kept me going.

The world around my home town just outside Edinburgh has changed quite a bit since that first post back in August 2010 and not all of it for the better. If I'd been told then that alongside landscapes, cityscapes, streetscenes, Festival-goers, foodflowers, insects and family goings-on I'd be posting pictures of a Scottish independence campaign, a referendum to leave the European Union, a series of anti-Trump and other demos I would have been sceptical to say the least. To cap off the decade with a global pandemic seems almost laughably dramatic.

I've also been lucky enough over the piece to see two daughters work their way through High School, College and University, and not just to provide a proud father the chance to watch a graduation ceremony. Last, but not least, I got to see Hibernian win the Scottish Cup at Hampden Park after 114 years.

So if you've visited any of my posts before you have my thanks and hopefully the next years will be just as interesting. To celebrate I baked a cake just to prove to my cynical offspring that my reputation for baking disasters is unfounded. I'm happy to report that the sponge was delicious.

Extra photos: 1.Cutting the cake 2. A texture check.
