Hovering in a surprise shower

I went with the faffed, arty, and less focused shot. He had a bad wet head feather day too!  You can see this young gent clearer in the extra. Look for his one red neck feather, the beginning of his gorgeous iridescent red gorget. He and another young male(without a red neck feather yet) were caught in the fabulous fifteen minute torrential rain shower we had this afternoon. It has not rained in absolutely forever, so it was a celebration. These two young guys usually spend most of their day attacking and buzzing each other trying to keep each other from the feeders. We need helmets on the patio!

This afternoon was very special with the selection Kamala Harris, the first woman of color ever the be selected as a Vice Presidential candidate.

For the record,
This day came in very hot with the gift of a 15 minute torrential shower in the afternoon.
