All We Have to Decide

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
                                          - JRR Tolkien

Feeling a bit overwhelmed at the close of this day. Masks and uncertainties and another's suffering and so tired of treating people with caution instead of openness...  and heat and endless dust. Worked hard for most of it, but you can't really tell the difference - things like totally emptying, cleaning and sorting the fridge, and same with space under the sink. And stocking up at the market and storing it all. And meals of course. And sweeping and mopping, several times. Still a wash to hang out...

And Mike has sprained his ankle, just overdoing it, I guess. He's installed four hammock hooks, so at least Paul will have somewhere to sleep - if they come...

But. The Sabbath is almost here, and we'll both stop all work for a day. And we lit a candle while we ate his good bread with tomatoes from Maria's vegetable garden, sprinkled with good salt and plenty of oregano. And yes, a glass of wine.

Gratefuls:
- inspiring words from those who have gone through hard times before us
- standing under the planets and stars, and reminding myself of the beauty and order of this world
- the gift of being able to stop
