The Princess and the Dog

Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

Exciting news - Lovely Shuvly and Basher are getting a lab puppy on 1st January. They will now be a 5 dog family!

She was telling me that she has kept a baby tooth from each of her puppies and I said I’d done the same with The Mini Princesses.

When The Youngest Mini Princess had her first wobbly tooth, she was soooo excited. But this tooth wasn’t in a hurry to come out and it was wobbly for weeks, hanging on a thread. Eventually at dinner one night, she realised it had come out. Right before she swallowed it!

She was inconsolable. “How will the tooth fairy know?” she sobbed. We managed to reassure her that the tooth fairy would be able to use magic to get the tooth but this wasn’t quite enough. That night, she left a letter under her pillow asking the tooth fairy to please, please leave the tooth because she hadn’t been able to see it.

The Tooth Fairy may have used some less than magical language when she read the letter.

Then I remembered the box with EMP’s baby teeth. One of them was ‘repurposed’ and popped under YMP’s pillow with a reply from the Tooth Fairy. YMP ran through to our bedroom in the morning, absolutely beside herself with excitement to show us the tooth.

Which is a lovely end to that story...

Except that a few years later when the Tooth Fairy was revealed, the Mini Princesses asked how we had managed to get a tooth and I had to fess up. This led to a HUGE fight over the tooth ownership! YMP insisted on keeping it, and to this day, it is a bone of contention!
