Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Jelly lugs

The fungi are pretty thin on the ground at this time of the year. All I could find this afternoon was this group of jelly ears, or lugs as they say hereabouts. In scientific circles they go by the name Auricularia auricula-judae.

Hardy things, jelly lugs! They have been slowly chewing their way through this fallen tree for at least the last ten years!
