Seriously?

Then and Now

I spent today studying for my online Masters degree, awarded by York St John University where, a lifetime ago, I studied for my Bachelors degree. Not a coincidence - the idea of graduating from my Alma Mater was a major factor when deciding to take this course "for fun" !

In June 2012 I attended the week-long Residential course in York and found myself in Memory Lane with almost every step I took. The city of York was just as beautiful as in all my sugar coated memories and I filled my memory card with images of Then and Now'.

Today, in another century, another country and another life, I have studied at home with no desire to go out on this typical 'Istanbul Grey' kind of day. In fact, my Blip was going to be of some barren trees against the grey sky outside my window. Then staring at the YSJU website started me thinking about my York experience last June and my York experience when I was 19 and just a little older than the kids I teach now.

This photo, taken during the York City Walls walk last June, shows the C19th college building where I lived and studied in the C20th and to the left, the modern buildings extension where I studied in C21st.
