Blue Sky Heritage

MrsB and I wrapped up very warm to stroll round our favourite industrial heritage area near Wigan Pier basin of the Leeds/Liverpool canal today.
This view shows Trencherfield Mill, built 1907, alongside the canal, where it had a special loading basin for the barges to pick up and drop off cotton products.
The dry dock, next to Lock 87, was big enough for the largest barges to be housed whilst undergoing repairs and fittings, and stay close enough to the busy canal hub to be put straight back into action.
