Faded Tulips

I can’t believe I’m posting a third consecutive flower blip this week - though technically there were no actual flowers in yesterday’s Leaves of Grass (and  thank you so much for the lovely comments, stars and hearts for this).

My plan today is to photograph sea birds, but though  the sun tries to break through as we walk towards the beach, by the time we arrive it’s retreated leaving steel-blue sea and a bone-chilling wind. The tide is in, so no waders, and the gulls normally feeding off the prom are nowhere to be seen. I do find oyster catchers waiting on the stone breakwater for the waters to recede, but the images I take are disappointing.

And so it’s home to tulips. My two week old blooms have been decaying nicely for several days, but there’s still a little life in them. Almost translucent, petals depleted, still beautiful.
