The eyes have it

When you reach a certain age routine health checks are viewed fearfully wondering what new trick your body is playing on you.

Once a visit to the optician was a minor inconvenience in a busy schedule, nothing to be feared.

Well, two cataract operations behind me I now view each visit for a routine eye check with a certain apprehension. So yesterday when the optician announced she was referring me to the local eye hospital with suspected glaucoma I had already braced myself for some bad news.

Many of my cousins have what they euphemistically refer to as  an “ eye problem” without ever giving it a name.

And glaucoma is genetic.
Meanwhile the photo is a digital painting inspired by my bad news.
