Odd one out

We started the day with an early walk in the mist, leaving the house just after 8.00am and doing a circuit which we often walk but back to front. Needed to be back for the hairdresser arriving at lunchtime.
Starting with Crowther’s field and then up to Cullingworth, following Cowhouse Beck, and Dolphin Lane up to Catstones  Moor. Despite the mist it was very warm and we soon discarded our fleeces.
Lots of flowers in bloom, the Bluebells hanging on (amazingly it was the 25th March when I saw the frost one!) and now being mixed with Buttercups and Cow Parsley plus Hawthorn and Rowan blossom.

It was lovely and peaceful. We got back to the village as the sun came through. A brief stop at my son’s to say hello, weed his wall and pinch a few Marigold seedlings.

We left him at 9.55, perfect timing to be the first at Yorkshire Treats for a coffee!

Stripped the bed to change the duvet from winter weight to summer and then did some garden tidying. Very warm and muggy. Strange how I delight in seeing Buttercups in the fields but spend hours digging them out of the garden! Lots of spent foliage to remove from early spring bulbs and the usual weeds that the damp and increasingly warm weather has encouraged.

We have lots of Alliums in flower now but I spotted this lilac one amongst them deep purples, thought it was rather nice. One head had dropped at the neck so I’ve brought that one in.

More fine weather to come we hear. Enjoy the bank holiday if you are in the UK.
