Contemplating

This morning we drove south from Fidelis to Woodland Park, needing to arrive before 0900 as that was when the technicians to connect us to fibre were going to arrive. The trip was later than I usually travel, and less difficult. It also allowed us to compare my car's navigation system (provided by Nissan)with the route advice provided by S' iPhone.

The navigation directed us to major routes, so that when I left the motorway to go through Albany to the motorway west, it kept wanting me to do a U-turn, or a loop back to  State Highway 1; even though that was badly clogged by commuters. The iPhone advice was much more flexible and quickly adapted to my choices.

So why did I need assistance? Merely to confirm that my choices were logical and I would get where I wanted to go, as this is the first time I have driven this route. I am confident I chose the easiest and least stressful way to go, and possibly the quickest.

We are now connected to the internet in the new home. First thing we've done. We had to leave to come back north before our provider had done their bit so it will be Wednesday before we can check if it really does work, and then change the password.

We also had a surveyor come to establish the boundaries. We already knew that there had been an accommodation (legally) for the neighbour on one side to take a drive way across the front of what is now our property. This arose because what had been a rectangular block of land had been cut in half almost diagonally.

It seems that over the 46 or more years since then, owners of the other half have encroached over the boundary, so that the surveyor and his assistant were very surprised. Additionally the neighbour on the other side has done much the same sort of encroachment.

Some (hopefully co-operative) negotiations await us once we get the surveyor's report.

When we got back to Fidelis, it was early enough to take a run on the road to Algies Bay and then back along the water's edge all the way around to the 70+ steps. With stops for photos, I was out for nearly and hour. Feels good.

My extra is a low light photo of a white-Faced heron seen at the northern end of Algies Bay.
