Wild Things

Posting quickly in case we lose our internet connection again.  It's been going out constantly for the past several days.  Could be the wind (yes, really - old lines here) or our old router (probably).

We made our first trip to Orchard Hills Park today in Geauga County.  It was a golf course 10 years ago and Mr Mole had some interesting recollections from his time playing there.  He also prompted me to find the following:

Pete DiGravio
Bogeys the 16th hole

Peak of notoriety: 1968

Pierino “Pete” DiGravio, the stylishly successful loan shark known as the “Mayor of Little Italy,” made the mistake of bad-mouthing his Mob rivals to a Cleveland Press reporter, stating: “We need the Mafia like we need cancer.” A few days later, while setting up his golf shot at the 16th hole of the Orchard Hills Country Club in Chesterland, a rifleman hiding in the bushes shot DiGravio. His murder has never been solved, nor has the mysterious death of his son William five years later in a Florida boat blast.  Courtesy of Notorious Cleveland 2.

Thanks so much for your visits and comments.  Will reciprocate when we get our technical problems resolved.
