Private dining at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society
[This is the fourth in a sequence of posts backblipped due to illness.]
Overnight I dozed to Radio 4, then the World Service, still in pain. By breakfast time, however, I knew that I would be well enough to travel back to Edinburgh.
Winsford waved me off from the platform at Pitlochry at 9:30am, and I was back home just before midday. (My bike stayed north. The Winsfords will bring it down to Edinburgh by car next week.)
Not long after my return, Mark and Audrey (from Reading) arrived at our house for a short holiday with us. The first priority was soup for lunch. Then we set up afternoon tea in garden for eight: myself, Mr hazelh, Mark, Audrey, the Foxes, and Katharine and Jack.
After tea, three of the party embarked on a bird walk along the Water of Leith led by Jack (Jack, ClarissaFox, Mr hazelh). The rest stayed at the garden table to play Catan (myself, Katharine, Mr Fox, Mark) or observe the game (Audrey). Nobody managed to reach 10 points before it was time to get ready for our evening out, so we abandoned the game with the declaration that we were all winners.
Our evening treat was dinner in one of the private dining rooms of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society on Queen Street (which I booked a couple of weeks ago). I managed a lovely main course of salmon in lobster bisque. The others enjoyed their more substantial three course meals. The wine flowed freely (even I had a little), as did the conversation.
I have blipped the display of whisky bottles on the mantelpiece of our dining room at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society.
Exercise today: walking (10,881 steps).
