Eclectic

Saturday mix of exercise, errands, coffee with friends, and minimising domestics in favour of the garden.

I already had 2 bush tomatoes in the main vege garden. Now there are 4 more regular tomatoes in pots and a bag. The couple of short stakes at the end of the main vege garden will support my courgette. Yes, I'm growing a vertical courgette again this year.

I've left a flowering broccoli plant because it's a bee magnet. Bumbles prefer the chive flowers. Both make it through the double layer of bird mesh. It's purpose is to thwart white butterflies.

There's new stuff happening around the driftwood. Fresh carex commans seedlings and a Carmichaelia williamsii in the blue pot. It's a native broom. Structural and quirky, also a little sulky at present.

And look at that rowdy Australian in the back corner. Leptospermum coral candy. NZ has it's own version known as manuka.

Today's gratitude: For a long phone call with my sister and brother in law. They've been stuck in lockdown in Auckland for over 3 months. Hopefully they'll fly home to Australia tomorrow.
