Women | Land | Sculpture

We called in Hazelhurst Gallery between walks, only for my walking buddy J to recognise a name in the catalogue. I headed towards her work #48, Untitled, only for one of two women already there to say “This is the artist”. J’s acquaintance, Kerry Toomey, loved art as a child but trained as a teacher and it was only post-retirement that she finally went to art school.

Hers is a mixed media work, inspired by Winged Victory atop the war memorial at Marrickville, with a hint of Dolly Parton.
