The Strictly Final

I spotted this pair in a shop window in town first thing and thought they’d make a suitable blip on the day of the Strictly final. I think it’s been a great series, with some excellent performances and no terrible celebrities as they used to have. It was really lovely to see Rose and John watch the messages from family and friends on It Takes Two last night, Rose in particular got quite emotional. Such a shame that AJ is injured and had to retire, but that’s life as a dancer. I hope it’s a really good final and both couples perform at their best. I’ve voted at times for both during the series, and so nice to see them do so much positive good too.

There were 90,418 new cases today, up 67% on the number last Saturday. A fantastic 817,625 booster jabs were given  yesterday - well done the NHS. The London Mayor has declared a ‘major incident’ over the ‘huge surge’ of Omicron cases. It means that different public authorities will work together through the London Resilience Forum and the strategic co-ordinating group. There is talk of a ‘circuit breaker’ for two weeks immediately after xmas. SAGE minutes say it’s ‘almost certain’ there are hundreds of thousands of new Omicron infections a day, obviously higher that those officially reported (at these levels, we wouldn’t have to capacity for everyone needing one to take PCR tests anyway).Half of the football matches in England’s top 4 divisions were postponed this weekend due to Covid infections.
