Sunshine and Showers

Unbelievably, we were all down for breakfast by 9am . D and I then went on a walk around Kendal, including a muddy climb up to see Kendal Castle. The teens went into town for a look round. We had to check out of the Travelodge by 12 then made our way over kirkstone pass to Aira Force. Alfie and Liv are following us in his RX8 and I thought he might find it a bit scary. On the contrary, he said it was ‘the best drive he’d ever had’ . Johnnie has been to the Lake District before but It’s the first time for Liv and she’s loving it so far. We couldn’t access a lot of the paths at Aira Force due to some trees being down which was a shame.
Next we drove to Grasmere, bought some gingerbread and visited Wordsworth’s grave then had coffee and cake in the Heaton Cooper gallery café.
We were lucky with the weather which was showers and sunshine. We were rewarded with a lovely rainbow over the fells in Grasmere.
We drove over to Ambleside and let ourselves into the house just before 5pm. It’s lovely, really big. Very clean and well equipped.
This is my 8 year Blipversary. Thank you for all the comments and stars and hearts over the years.
