Starling Dodd

With high pressure dominating, and cloudless skies, the weather isn't great for photography but wonderful for walking. Particularly over those areas which would normally be boggy.

Great Bourne and Starling Dodd are two fells we've walked from Buttermere before, and coming off the fells towards Buttermere, it was a real quagmire. Today we started at Ennerdale, and walked up Herdus, over Great Bourne, then Starling Dodd, Little Dodd and back down to Ennerdale. An 8 mile round trip and pretty dry underfoot. Definitely a better route than last time. The cairn on top of Starling Dodd is mostly made up of old fence posts - very unusual. In the background is Red Pike, and in the distance views extend to Great Gable.  Two years ago today we entered the first Covid lockdown, with three people in our road currenttly suffering from it - some things haven't changed as much as we think. But what a different world we live in now!
