The end of the beginning . . . . .

. . . . . or the beginning of the end, in this case. The beginning of the staging at the end of the glasshouse actually. It's been a drizzly day today and not ideal for working outside with electric drills  - or working outside at all, in fact. (As I write the heavens have opened and I've just popped out to put some seedlings into the glasshouse - what a luxury!) Anyway, I've had to drill and put this first section together in the hall as there's nowhere else. I've been spoilt for the last 50 odd years by having a workshop and toolshed at work, so if I needed to do anything at the weekend or during the evening I'd make myself at home there, with the usual great selection of tools I could use! I keep looking for a particular tool only to remember that it's still in the toolshed at Arduaine Garden! Now I've got to put legs on what will be the first section of staging, and then slatted timber on the top to stand the pots on. It will be finished one day!

My extra today is of a plant I picked up the other day in Homebase as it was something I'd never seen before. It was labelled simply 'Succulent' and was lying on its side in a tray, totally desiccated. When I'd rescued and revived it I took a photograph and posted it for identification on the British Cactus and Succulent Society's Facebook page. It was identified very quickly as Peperomia ferreyrae; I would never have thought it a Peperomia, but I checked it out and it seems correct. So there you go - you can learn something new every day!
