The Casualty Of High Winds

Over the last two weeks we have experienced some very windy days. Trees and Shrubs have been stripped of leaves and blossom.

Gardening work is much delayed. Today I found this bird lying on the ground. Everything appeared normal. The wings still worked. The body was unmarked. The neck was perhaps broken but again no visual damage.

I suspect a collision with something hard. Not a vehicle. Birds that get struck by vehicles usually end up on the road of pavement.

Now my knowledge of birds is not that wide. I have not been able to identify this one. Perhaps someone else will identify the species.
