Seed Head Shadows

I wish that I could slip gracefully into autumn, but each year I fight against the change of season. I long for warmth and sunshine, light mornings,  balmy evenings, and hate the damp chill that descends as autumn starts. Of course, there’s little better than a perfect autumn day of crisp blue skies and woods that glow with gold and copper. But this week it’s just been unrelenting grey, with squally showers starting up just as you think it’s safe to leave the house.

Reluctant to use fires or our central heating for as long as possible, it’s a case of wearing jumpers and sitting with a blanket and a heated bean bag for warmth. I must admit I’m so pleased we have ten days in Madeira coming up next week!

So suffice to say, shadows and silhouettes have definitely been in short supply today. It’s undeniably a day for indoor photography, and my blip’s a tiny vase of Nigella seed heads with gypsophila, lit so their shadows fall against the wall.

Finally, thanks so much for your generosity yesterday! I should have expected nothing less from this lovely community, of course, and many comments confirmed my view that most of us are happier taking photos than being photographed!

Thanks to MaryElizaR for hosting!
