The accidental finding

By woodpeckers

I'm still here

Just dropping in with a non-great crop of a jigsaw, which is a detail of a Money painting entitled Le pont Japonais, bassin aux nympheas. I liked the bright colours. The wooden puzzles are harder to do, because they have irregular shaped pieces. The edge pieces can't be set up first. Eventually I'd like to replace all my puzzles with these wooden collectable puzzles, because I don't mind doing them over and over, and they take up less space.

I haven't blipped for days because I work all day and it's dark on the commute home, and I'm usually in a rush on the way to work, or else it's foggy.

My colleague and I have decided to have a 'feast' at work once a week. This week we had an impromptu Mexican feast, and next week it'll be Italian. She has Italian connections. My Mexican ones are more thready.
I've also booked a party at a new pizza restaurant next week. It's a joint birthday party for me and a guy called 'Communist Steve' or 'Union Steve', whom I meet at the Trinity Rooms most Fridays.

Today being Friday, I went down to Trinity to meet a client. We had lunch and a chat, then I excused myself because I don't work on Fridays (ha!) and had a chat with aforesaid union man. Raced down to the shop, Home Bargains, where I thought I'd left my headphones. Believe it or not, they went and checked their CCTV and said they could see me packing them into my rucksack and carrying the cat food I'd bought (later, CleanSteve found them in the car- phew!)

I couldn't help noticing that the same guy in a hoodie who used to charge his phone in our corridor at the surgery, and who was asked to leave because it's not a public charging point, was also asked to leave Home Bargains because he'd been banned from there. He had once argued with the store manager when asked to remove his face mask when buying alcohol. I saw him outside the shopping centre, and because he's quite scary looking I didn't think to tell him about the food at the Trinity rooms, or at the soup kitchen, or that he can charge his phone legitimately at the library. Maybe he doesn't know. Oh dear. I've got a way to go. Apparently he is homeless, but when we tried to help him at the surgery last year he did not show up for the meeting.

Well, what else? It's cold again tonight. My electric blanket is on the blink again. I've booked a repair session at the repair cafe tomorrow (at the Trinity Rooms!) I'm not overly optimistic that a loose connection can be repaired. Still, I can meet a friend for soup/coffee afterwards. And there's a closing down sale of a yet another store in town.
