Art Deco gem

I was over in Corstorphine, checking on the flat, which gave me the opportunity to blip this Art Deco gem in Old Kirk Road.

The house was designed by the architect Sir James Miller and built in 1931.

The building was category B listed in the 90’s. The notes of the categorisation record that the building is two storey with 5 bays and and irregular plan. It is flat roofed and has whitewashed rendered brick.

This house makes some impact, surrounded by more regular 1930s built houses, so when it was built 92 years ago, the impact must have been even more astounding.

Now, there is a well designed modern house of the 1930s jazz age.

I hope you have had a good day.
