None the wiser

On our walk this afternoon we stopped off at our doctors’ surgery so I could collect my blood test results. (They were great, thank you for asking.) This brick pillar is outside the house next to the doctor’s surgery, and is one of a pair on either side of that house. I took a photo of it because I remembered from past local history research that it is Grade II listed, but I didn’t know anything about it.

I do now. The gateposts were first listed on 22nd February 1979, and this is what Historic England has to say about them: "A pair of gateposts. Yellow and red brick. Flat stone caps. Oval Coade stone fluted paterae on front and sides." Other than that, I am none the wiser.
