Turandot

This is a thoroughly nasty opera. I struggle fiercely with the story, especially the ending.

The new production at Covent Garden is magnificent. The music is terrific; there's so much more than Nessun Dorma.

The winner of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, was Liu. For me she was the star (and made me cry).
