Guilt

In my last year at secondary school, my father had asked me to buy a roll of wallpaper on my way home. I then went into John Menzies and browsed the books including Brave New World. I didn't buy anything because the only money I'd  have had would have been my bus fare. Imagine my horror at the bus stop when I realised that the Brave New World had dropped into the carrier bag with the roll of wallpaper. I had to return to the bookshop and snuck the paperback back onto the shelf.

Many decades have passed but I've now read it.
