Best of friends

The weather was absolutely beautiful with sunshine and almost cloudless blue skies all day long. The air higher in the atmosphere was obviously very still as I was amazed at the number of jet trails that were crossing above Mull from aircraft going both north and south and they stayed in place for quite some time before gradually fading away.
Friend P asked if Bertie and I would like to accompany her and the lovely Lucy for a walk in the afternoon and it was during our walk that I took my main shot as the two dogs posed on a handy tree stump.
Along the way, we witnessed a juvenile white tailed eagle disturbing a pair that had been nest building near where we live but it looks like they haven’t got around to laying any eggs. This was later confirmed by the local RSPB officer who we met later on our walk and while we were talking to him one eagle returned to the vicinity of the nest, only to be “mobbed” by a couple of hooded crows. Its acrobatic flying to avoid the crows was a wonderful sight. My first extra shows this eagle sharing a tree with one of the crows. The views we enjoyed were beautiful, both looking north over to Rum, and south towards the hills of central Mull (second and third extras). Certainly, people visiting the island (and judging from the increased number of cars on the road, there are quite a few now) had a real treat today.
