Parish Church of Saint Peter and St Paul

“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
During my visit to Garway Church last week I met someone who invited me to an event today. A bit of a trek, about an hour and a half travel by car, but I was curious. How random was it to meet a ‘stranger’ during a spontaneous visit to a church in the middle of nowhere who would then invite me to an event. Couldn’t resist. And travelling through places with names like Trumpet and Pixley, got to be done.
Stopped off to get my photo for the day at a church on the way and arrived a bit late – I was expected! Fortunately there were refreshments and I got stuck in to coffee and cake/biscuits and while I was quietly soaking it all up I was approached by someone who wanted to talk to me. Showed me a beautifully illustrated ‘book’ with mythical illustrations and mandalas, with explanatory text alongside. Beautiful, and inspirational and packed with ideas. As I was looking at it and chatting about it someone else got drawn into the conversation, a nearby stallholder. The conversation moved on to discussion about divination and methods of drawing inspiration. This second conversation led to a third – as I was moving along I was again intercepted by a musician talking about sound frequencies in Healing modalities. My final one for the day, or so I thought, was an Oracle card reading. All good fun and I got more than a passing impression my being there was of more interest to the reader as our trajectories in life seemed to have several close similarities or parallels – so I was becoming the oracle. I’d planned to talk to the dowser group but time ran out and stalls were being cleared away, several visitors had gone. The thought of clearing away was forgotten when somebody suggested that those who were left were the ones who were meant to be there – definite shades of Close Encounters. A circle was formed and we introduced ourselves and our being there. I’d explained about my visit to the church and the invitation the previous week. The last one spoke and the event was wrapped up, chairs to be stacked and hall to be cleared. As I prepared to leave I found someone else accosting me, keen to talk, telling me about another fascinating church I might find interesting to photograph. Ever keen to talk I found the best part of another hour passed in fascinating conversation! This despite the approaching showers and cold air moving in. It was only when the rain started that I thought it was time to head back, there was shepherd’s pie waiting to warm me up at home. All in all a rather full day with lots of unexpected meetings.
