A Carnivorous Plant

This plant has come in very handy on a number of occasions in all of its various guises. This must be some sort of seed pod from our purple pitcher plant. Its tight buds were featured in last Thursday's abstract shot and it is keeping us quite fascinated so see what happens next.

This has been one of those days which one just waits to be over. Our brief period of almost warm springlike weather ended this week and it is now raining and cold again.  We sidelined our plan to take Spike up to his meadow and opted instead for a very quick walk down to the bridge to check out the creek and throw his Kong in the vacant lot at the end of the road where there is a minimal number of stickers and foxtails. O,ur own field is four feet high in grasses of various kinds.

On the way home I stopped by to commiserate with a neighbor who is caring for her very sick dog. It is so hard, and brought back memories of going through the same thing with our dear Ozzie. I couldn't help her with the decision about when it is time. All I could do was give her a hug and tell her that when it is time she will know....

I had planned to go pick up my sewing machine, but wanted to get some
fabric for the backing of the current quilt and didn't quite have it together to make decisions or walk around the store looking at fabric. It was beginning to feel like I was living in some kind of parallel universe where decisions were impossible and stuff just happened. I sat on the couch and watched them endlessly push dirt and gravel around the fortress house, reading the New Yorker and forgetting to eat lunch.
Jim came over and somehow miraculously managed to retrieve the 48 character password that will allow him to access John's Microsoft hard drive and transfer the data therein to a new computer. He claims that he and Peter had an interesting time trying to crack the code....Thank goodness for them.

The weather is supposed to improve somewhat tomorrow and I am counting on my energy levels and normal decision making abilities to improve as well. It will be interesting to see what the orthopedist says on Monday as I'm not good at sitting around....
