Birthday Fun

Well, I’m another year older. Another wrinkle, another grey hair and another pound that needs to be lost.

We were up and ready early and we set off to Trearddur Bay where we had breakfast at Lola’s Cafe….a very tasty bacon barn and a cuppa. It was a bit misty and as we headed off up to South Stack Lighthouse we were laughing at the thicker and thicker mist. By the time we parked up and walked towards the steps (over 400!!) that lead down to the lighthouse we couldn’t see a thing. We could hear the sea, we could hear the puffins, we could hear the fog horn…but we couldn’t see a thing.

Tracey decided to stay at the top whilst we decided to go down a little way to see if we could see the puffins. We did!!! There were thousands, but they haven’t got their colourful beaks yet. As we walked down the mist dissipated a bit so we carried on all the way to the bottom where it was blue sky and sunshine! Looking back up the mist sat heavily on the top. The climb back up was fun…ha ha ha. I wore my birthday glasses and I’ve never been wished happy birthday by so many people before, it was lovely lol.

When we’d got our breath back we set off to Porth Dafarch Beach. There was a mobile caff where we bought a cuppa and had it with a piece of birthday cake. It was just what I wanted to do on my birthday. The icing on the cake was a dip in the sea afterwards. It was a shame it wasn’t high tide but that wasn’t going to stop me having a birthday dip. It was a bit choppy compared to yesterday, but great fun. Tracey went in up to her hips but I had a quick swim. When I got out the guy who owns the cafe gave me a free hot chocolate and a little cake for free for having a swim and it being my birthday…what a lovely thing to do, it made my day.

We then went to Rhosneigr for a walk along the beach and to watch the kite surfers. We were going to pop into Menai for a late lunch but I missed the turn and we were on Britannia Bridge and leaving the island. So we headed to Conway Marina and ate outside in the sunshine.

Then it was time to go home. What a fabulous birthday weekend.
