The walk into the nature reserve at Aberlady starts on the footbridge at the head of the bay.  The wild apple blossom is at its best and the view would have been enhanced if the tide had been in.  Normally there are many birds near the bridge especially in winter but many are winter visitors and the others were feeding down near the water’s edge.   However the summer visitors have arrived, many of which were easily visible as they sang from the tops of bushes beside the footpath and thanks to the bird song app I was able to identify most of them.  Probably the most common bird songs were those of the skylarks which can be heard throughout the year there but I was pleased to see a whitethroat, a stonechat, reed buntings and sedge warblers amongst others.  The collage shows some cowslips and thrift in the reserve
