Douarnenez, France
An interesting morning as we arrived by Zodiac to the marina at Douarnenez, a quiet little town which was pleasant enough to stroll through, as long as we didn't mind protesters telling us we were not welcome there (we "rich" cruise ship passengers). Everyone is entitled to their opinions, I suppose!
We were even interviewed by a local reporter, and asked our thoughts on the environmental impact of cruise ships. I told her that there were only 200 passengers on this particular ship, and that I wondered if those same 200 people all jumped into their cars to go touring instead of going by ship, wouldn't there be a similar amount of harm done? And what about the thousands upon thousands of flights taken every day all over the world? She also asked our opinion about the protesters' branding all cruise passengers as "rich". I should have answered that we used to be richer before we paid for the cruise, but didn't think of it fast enough!
I did enjoy the street art around town, and also the surprisingly contemporary stained glass windows in the church, as well as the quaint charm of the little fishing harbour.
