Tracking progress

An excellent sleep last night after a much needed early night.

And then good progress on several fronts today. I managed to spend a bit of time on a book review that is way overdue. Perhaps Monday might see me actually writing it. In and amongst, I interspersed a bit of gardening of the weeding and tidying variety. Obviously the weeds as well as the plants have gone mad in the interim, so pulled out a lot of crocosmia and various other things. It's looking quite tidy now, at least around the front. Most recent comparison is the third extra to this blip. The second extra is the ultimate comparator: the same bed in March....although by then I had already removed a brown bin's worth of dead stuff. A comparison to less than a month ago is here. We took the remaining peony blooms off the plant and left them in a bucket of water by the back gate to be collected by K whilst we were out at the The Port.

Indeed, there was more progress there. I did a triangular swim of nearly 1km and was in the water for 45 minutes. It's amazing not being cold in the water any more! I don't think I have ever swum that far in open water before. Whilst I was doing that, L and M did nearly 1.5km.... Hey ho. Mr A got a picture of me heading out to sea.... I didn't take my own goggles so had to borrow a pair from L and they were not prescription goggles so it was quite a while before I managed to spot the buoy. I went less astray swimming back to the steps as I could see the cream coloured house on which you orient yourself all the way. On the way back, we picked up fish and chips from one of the takeaways in Tain, and it was excellent. Especially good chips.

Earlier on, Mr A went out and found himself the missing bolt, so that's sorted and now located around the front. It's been a rather grey, but quite warm, day, with a few spots of rain. We haven't felt the need to water the garden again today. It's great being here in the summer!
