Golf!

We had mixed weather again today, typical of being in the mountains where we have sunshine and hot weather and then a storm breaks with rain, followed by sunshine once again. We had both sunshine and rain in the morning, and as Gavin was busy working (mainly school governor stuff) I busied myself with editing my photos. Much later when he was finished we went for a walk in the village up the river, and then back to the village where we had lunch on the terrace of a hotel in the sunshine - Gavin had his favourite flammkuchen (which is tart flambée in France) while I had a salad with added prawns. As we were finishing lunch we noticed the sky darkening again so we quickly settled the bill and in order to avoid another Pina Colada song moment (gettin' caught in the rain) we walked very quickly back to the apartment up the hill. It was just starting as we neared home but we did not get wet as this time we had our rain jackets. (we learnt our lesson yesterday!)

We had rain, thunder and hail and then it was all over and the sun came out again, so we decided to go play 9 holes of golf. The golf course is over the road from the apartment so it is very convenient. I have never played this golf course before, and I knew it had short holes (only one par 5) so thought it would be easy - it was anything but that! It is extremely hilly so it's a rule that you have to take a golf cart, and in most cases when you tee off you cannot see the green, there are many holes where you are hitting uphill into the side of a mountain....when I was getting frustrated Gavin reminded me that this golf course was not a typical Surrey golf course which is rather flat, but a golf course carved into the side of a mountain so it was up and down and tricky. Anyway I will certainly learn much if I play this course a few times.

Gavin and I finished season one of The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix last night, and we really enjoyed it (Gavin stayed awake so that counts as a good series) We will start season 2 tonight.

Our legs are a bit sore from two big hikes so it was good to have a rest from hiking today, but tomorrow another hike is planned.
