Stushie in Stirling

Delighted to see Jacqueline Marr, a very talented young artist and one of the founder members of Forth Valley Open Studios, used on the new banners in Stirling produced by the local council to promote arts in the area.

Ironically our 9-day event, involving 150 artists and more than 70 studios, which starts this Saturday, has never received any funding from Stirling Council.

There is a real stushie (old Scots word meaning fuss/argument) brewing because the Council have just held a £15,000 event at Stirling Castle to promote the arts in the area just weeks after they slashed £250,000 of support to local arts organisations!

And there is the small matter of all the empty shops in Stirling which artists would love to rent but they cant afford the high rent and rates.
