Glorious

Woke to a perfect clear sunny day and decided to make the most of my retired status so after my regular catch up with VG I headed straight to the beach at Portobello.the tide was out so I did the full length walk and back, stopping for a tasty bacon roll and coffee half way, then sat on the sand and soaked up the warmth. V was free and came down to meet me later and we chatted on the sand then at a cafe before we realised we were too hot and so she headed home and I picked up some food supplies then came home to make scones for Ad for when he came round. Nice to catch up with him about his uni plans, the rest of the family and holidays etc. He left just after I had a chat with the hospital…seems P will be going home tomorrow as there’s no medical reason to keep him in any more.
Quick shower to get rid of the sand before I head over to Arclight’s for book group. Full house tonight, but only Laura and I had finished the Cormac McCarthy book All the Pretty Horses…seems it was easier to listen to than to read. The descriptions of the Mexican countryside were good but the story wasn’t great….more a series of events strung together and a pervasive sense of hopelessness somehow, but it kept me attentive on my long drives recently and there were some very good sections.
Lots of chat as usual, not just about the book but also about midges, notebooks, Munros, bra designs, our planned weekend in the Borders, festival events, Wikipedia entries, potential jobs and poor comms, among other things!
Home and watched the last episode of Deadloch then bed…busy day tomorrow!
