Stuff and Nonsense

Red Squirrel

We attended the "Welcome Meeting" this morning to see if there are any more places locally that we didn't know about. Although we've been here a couple of times before, we had not got around to attending a meeting. It was well worthwhile as we found out about a new place that we have now booked for Sunday lunch. Hopefully it will be good.

Afterwards, we headed over to the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park near Aberfoyle in search of red squirrels. We were quite late in the morning so not all that hopeful, but luckily a couple of youngsters seemed to still be in the market for a snack or two from the feeders. They are so cute to watch, but remarkably fast when running between the trees.

Lunch at Mrs MacGregors in Aberfoyle was lovely and then we went to Flanders Moss Nature Reserve to look for lizards and sundew plants. Unfortunately, it was way too cool for lizards as the only bit of sun we had today was this morning, and we couldn't find any sundew. I remembered from last time when it was, but there was none to be found.
We did however, see a huge flock of lesser redpolls though which was nice.

Upon arriving back at our home for the week , it started to rain, so we timed our return perfectly. That's what I call a good first day :)

Heavy rain is forecast for tonight but hopefully it will pass over quite quickly whilst we sleep and we'll get another largely dry day for our visit to Falkirk.
