More sanding and stripping
MrMacD bought a stainless steel table to fill in the gap between the laundry unit and the wall, so assembled it and put it in place today. After that he starting removing part of a shelf that runs rounds around the laundry about mid height between ceiling and floor. We want to install two storage cupboards and it was necessary to remove the shelf so the cupboards can fit as close to the wall as possible and be anchored to stop them from possibly tipping over. Later in the afternoon he planted a few plants and did some watering as the ground is bone dry.
Meanwhile I gave the inside of the piece I’m working on another clean with white spirits, then sanded the shelf, one of the doors and the two drawers. I put stripper on the glass door as sanding would be too “violent” and could possibly damage the glass. The piece seems to have been constructed in two or three different timbers and painted with a couple of different blues and possibly even black. It’s quite curious. I’ve decided that I’ll paint this piece as trying to get it back to bare wood would be extremely difficult.
We had a quiet evening watching a mystery on MrMacD’s iPad and listening to the howling gale blowing outside. We have a heavy rain watch and a strong wind watch in place.
I stood on the deck and took a photo of a tree starting to burst into blossom and a pink rhododendron coming out in flower behind it.
