The Least
I always hope to see Lesser Goldfinch when I visit Oregon and today delivered in a big way. We went to the Jackson Bottom Wetlands and came across several large mixed feeding flocks with plenty of these bright finches. We also saw American Goldfinch (which we have in NJ too), Pine Siskins, House Finches, both Kinglets, Spotted Towhee and loads of ducks and Cackling Geese. In total, 22 species. The temps were in the low 40's so we bundled up - thankfully, no wind.
Thoroughly chilled but very happy, we returned home to warm up and will probably stay in this afternoon. Mom has a suet feeder and a hummingbird feeder, so there is lots of activity. This morning a flock of about 20 bushtits showed up - ridiculously cute little things!
We've been enjoying some dark with dried raspberries.
