For a living community, rather than a dormitory, this shop provides all manner of amenities for Halstock and neighbouring villages: foodstuffs, post office, community room, library, films . . . and all run by volunteers.  It's the closest shop to our village and is walking distance at 3 miles.  However, our neighbour decided to walk there a few years ago to buy some milk and of course there was none when she got there.  Oh well.
