tempus fugit

Why? When? Where? How?

This event actually took place on the previous day but lost out, blipwise, to the whale sightings.

A team of community artists has been engaged to create a project around the theme of 'new trails' that will provide fresh ways of exploring and understanding our twin towns of Fishguard and Goodwick, linking past and future to the benefit of both residents and visitors.

They are all connected with the Small World Theatre in Cardigan (in the adjoining county) and all have impressive track records of working creatively with local groups around the world to enhance community cohesion.

Today was one of two consultation days at which we local folk were invited to come and share their thoughts and feelings about living where we do, what we like, what we don't like and what changes we would like to see; how to involve different sets of people, how to make the towns more attractive to visitors, which aspects to promote, what to improve or introduce.

The artists  had covered  the tables in the market hall with white paper and had scattered  bilingual questions inviting us to comment on or share thoughts about a range of local issues and topics - history, tourism, environment -  and where we personally like to go to relax, recharge or be entertained. By the end of the morning the blank sheets were filling up with ideas, suggestions, notes, sketches, arrows...

The artists were all  keen to engage with the public and to invite discussion. At present the project is embryonic and no one has any idea in which direction it will go, but after this and the next open day at another location, maybe something will start to take shape. It's exciting!
