The Edge of the Wold

Bedraggled

The highlands were looking bedraggled after all the rain this last couple of days.  But our weather here is nothing compared to what they can put up with, and this one won't be bothered by Storm Jocelyn when it lands tonight.

The builders were bedraggled too today, they were outside digging trenches for water mains, soakaways and drainage.  Only Allan stayed dry sitting in the digger cab.  The window fitters were working in it too, and now all the windows and doors are in.  Alas, our parking area has been transformed into a muddy quagmire with all the excavations going on.

I was bedraggled when I went to Pocklington for an emergency dental appointment to head off the toothache that has been steadily amplifying this last week.  And again when I went for my walk in the afternoon.  The highlands were out of range as I walked up the hill, then as I came back down, this one was obligingly next to the fence waiting for me.

ps It is one year today since we moved from Arnside, the time seems to have flown by, but it’s also been an eventful 12 months.
