Not a crocus but a narcissus
I was wrong in my diagnosis. It's a narcissus not a crocus, and all the prettier for that. Crocuses are too transient on the balcony to give me any real pleasure, but from memory these narcissi are quite persistent. This year the stems are too short, though, for me to bring them in as table flowers.
So it looks like there will be a round of spring bulbs on the balcony and then there will be a further round, much closer to Easter, in Tain, involving the bulbs we've planted up.
Having recovered today as a working at home day, rather than a travelling through mucky weather day, I made good use of it to do a peloton workout, accompany Mr A on a brief shopping trip to the Foot of the Walk, and press on with the usual range of "stuff", until it was time for an early dinner followed by a bus to the Usher Hall. We had tickets for the Transatlantic Sessions concert which was full to the gunnels. Although we were right at the back, so our view was a bit distant, the music and the atmosphere was great. Being right at the back meant we could also make a swift getaway at the end, and pick up a taxi straight outside. I was buzzing when we got home and although we went quickly to bed, I was lying awake processing sounds and sights for quite some time. All good.
For the record, along with the usual suspects, we particularly enjoyed Kim Carnie (so we've now booked to see Mànran at Eden Court in April) and Joshua Burnside, who in a memorable line in a song about "both sides" in Belfast managed to work in something like "don't worry, whoever you are, the Tories will f*ck you". Oh yes.
Judging by the energy being put into the performance (and probably the after parties....), I suspect they will all be exhausted by the time they reach the Royal Festival Hall in about a week's time.
