The beach huts at Wells-Next-the-Sea
Today was forecast to be raining all day so it was a pleasant surprise that this morning was cloudy but dry.
We had planned to meet up with Inca and her family for a walk. Inca’s mum (who I briefly met over 4 years ago at a university when I collected Tommy at the end of term), her younger sister, Tommy, Gavin and I had a lovely walk from Holkham beach to Wells-Next-the-Sea. Inca’s dad and younger brother did not join us as they went bird watching. Their dog also came for the walk so Xena got to meet Ember and they went from chasing each other and playing, to annoying each other before finally settling down and being most companionable! It was cold and a bit breezy but pleasant enough to enjoy a walk on the beach. At Wells beach we got a coffee from the beach kiosk, before walking back to Holkham through the forest, a lovely walk of about 2 hours. I was chatting so much that I could not concentrate on taking any photos, but I did get a shot of the beach huts ('haven't you photographed those before?' said Gavin) and in the extras a shot of Tommy, Inca and her little sister Orla.
Gavin and I then left to pack up and we had a late lunch at a pub in Stanhope which was more or less on the way home, and it was very good. Tommy is staying another day with them and will return home tomorrow night.
We had a very easy drive home without any bad traffic, hot home in just over 3 hours.
It has been a very pleasant weekend with the weather being much better than expected.
